Spotlight Kenya ("we", "us") operates a curated local-business directory across Kenya. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
1. Information we collect
- Page-view and search analytics (aggregated, no PII).
- Submission form data when you list a business.
- Inquiry form data when you contact a listing owner.
- Locally stored preferences such as saved listings and chosen theme.
2. Cookies & local storage
We use first-party cookies and localStorage to remember your theme, role context, and saved shortlist. We do not store advertising identifiers in cookies.
3. Advertising disclosures
Some pages display sponsored placements clearly labelled "Sponsored". We may participate in approved ad networks such as Google AdSense or Mediavine. Those networks may use cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads in line with their published policies. Outbound "Visit website" links on sponsored listings carry rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes.
4. Affiliate links
Some outbound links may be affiliate links. We may earn a small commission if you book, buy, or sign up after clicking — at no extra cost to you. Affiliate status never influences editorial verification, which is conducted independently.
5. Data protection
Submitted business information is stored on managed Kenyan and EU infrastructure. We retain inquiry messages for up to 24 months for fraud-prevention and quality auditing, after which they are permanently deleted.
6. Your rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing privacy@spotlightdirectory.top.
7. Updates
We review this policy at least once per year. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for 14 days.
